Bookies Paddy Power today slashed the odds on a white Christmas as temperatures plummeted and snow fell across the capital this afternoon. It took just a few snowflakes to fall today before punters piled into the 6/1 on offer for snow to fall on Christmas Day. The odds on a single snow flake falling in Dublin on Christmas Day are now just 4/1!

With just eight weeks to go to Christmas the cold chill is already beginning to creep in with Met Eireann forecasting icy conditions and freezing temperatures. The last time Paddy Power paid out on a White Christmas was back in 2004 when Dublin woke up to a blanket of snow.
